My bus, a 2L '77, currently has a weber 32/36 carb which gives great performance and not too bad fuel consumptoin, easily passed the emmissions test at the MOT in September, and ticks over at a nice 800rpm! So what's wrong? I can't put up with the flat spot any longer :- In cold weather it's so bad it's an embarrassment to drive. Fortunately it's away in storage for the coldest part of the year. So What is the best option for twin carbs?? Readinig the threads in mech & tech the favourite seems to be Webber 40IDF - and where to get 'em from? Any opinions? (silly question!)
Silly me, I hadnt realised this was a mech and tech question and therefore not quite the thread I was expecting................ Anyhow, I do still have an opinion - it depends on what you want from fuel economy/power, I cant imagine the 40's being that economical. I have webber ict 34's on my 2056 type 4 and very pleased. A good compromise on power/fuel economy. As far as I am aware these are a popular choice for type 4 2L engines. Although my ones dont seem to have any choke so do take a few minutes to warm up.
Saw these on here Got Dells myself and very happy with them. Neither will help with fuel economy. http://thelatebay.com/index.php?topic=13209.0
Keep what you have and install it better.. I just started a howto on the 32/36 (a work in progress). You dont need a flat spot. Get rid of the warm climate only bling air filter ... Then add heat from the oil bath air cleaner picking up cylinder head air as well, and then you can stop it going suddenly lean at mid throttle as the secondary opens up by reducing the primary jet sizes.
Alot of the problems arise with the long run from the carb to the head , Fuel drops out of suspension and they ice up like a bitch
sorry i saw this thread and thought poptop had posted about his cheeky girl fetish again The Cheeky Girls - Have A Cheeky Christmas
