Haynes or Bentley ? I need to get something that will help me find my way around but I guess I do not need both.
Somewhere on here is a link to the Bentley one in pdf format, not sure where! Haynes is good, Bentley is more informative
Get the Bentley one if you must choose, but I've got Bentley, Haynes, KYBA and John Muir's How to Keep Your Volkswagen Alive.
Haynes is around in PDF format too, saw it for the first time last week. I've got bentley and muir in hard copy edit: here is mr haynes: http://www.chrisnet.webd.pl/oko/do_pobrania/vw_manual.pdf
Another vote for 'Keep your Volkswagen alive'. Got me going quicker than the Haynes when I wasn't online and the van wouldn't start.
Thanks for the input. Probably end up over time with all of them like BayBirmingham. Thanks to Scote for the link, this should get me going initially. My van is a 77 US LHD Berlin (originally 2.0FI) with a 1600 Type 1. Was there much difference between the 1600 and the 2.0 apart from the engine and FI system ? The reason I ask is, will I just need the one manual for a 1600 ? LHD v RHD will I assume just be a mirror image on where things are mostly.
for your US import bentley over Haynes as it will be more specific but keep your VW alive is a better read if you're a beginner.
Haynes and Bentley here too. Which with the link up there ^ and the one on this thread you too will have http://thelatebay.com/index.php?topic=299.0
Definitely the Bentley, I have a host of the damn things. Bentley and Ratwell.com cover everything I have needed so far!
