Which inlet manifolds for DRLA36 ?

Discussion in 'Mech Tech' started by justdunnett, Feb 17, 2014.

  1. Hi, guys just dropped my van off at the garage to have a few bits done, one of which will be fitting my twin drla 36's. However i need to also provide a pair of inlet manifolds as its running a single carb at the mo. Does anyone the runs these carbs or webber idf 36's know which would be the best inlet manfiolds to get?
The chap doing the work said its best to get offset ones rather than straight?

Let me have any responses asap as I need to buy a pair tonight or tomorrow,
    Cheers
    James D :)

  2. wow they are cheaper! thanks for the link dude! So will 36mm carbs be okay with 40mm manifolds? is that the norm?

  3. I'm no Gene Berg, but I reckon they'll be fine, plus I don't think anyone does 36 specific manifolds any more....

  4. The DRLA 36's are based on the same size manifolds as the Weber 40's :D

  5. I'd think as long as the mounting stud pitch is the same and the manifold hole is bigger than the bottom bore of the carb (i.e. no "step" in the join to disrupt airflow), they'd be fine.

  6. The cheaper ones are not offset tho.
Ideally the manifold hole need to be the same as the carb but it's not essential as probably they won't match heads or the air filter

  7. hi guys they've arrived already and they are offset. they're with the guy doing the work! cant wait to get the van back already! need new fan housing though as too tight to the carbs

  8. modify the one you have, the aftermarket ones have 1/2 the cooling vanes missing
