Where to stow Westfalia cab hammock while driving

Discussion in 'Mech Tech' started by PeaSoup, Mar 5, 2013.

  1. Probably a silly question with an obvious answer.

Where is the proper place to stow a 1976 Berlin/Campmobile Westfaila cab child hammock while driving?

Any one got a picture showing where it should be stowed? Can't find anywhere obvious to put it due to it's length.

    Thanks.

it usually goes under the rock n roll bed, there are 2 slots cut out of the side where the hing bolts to the upright, not in all van though( no idea why)

yep, as David says - ours has a pair of u shaped slots that it seats in, rather neat too!

  4. There are a few designs of bed, I will try to find the link, for different years, my late bay has telescopic poles, so it can close down to fit under a 3/4 width bed!!

  5. Thanks for the replies.

Can't spot anywhere obvious under my bed to store it, and I think it would be too long anyway as my poles are fixed length and so wouldn't fit under a 3/4 width Berlin bed.

I know my bunk isn't the original Westfalia one and so perhaps the original one did have telescopic poles?

I remember reading something in the past somewhere about it going in the back with one end in the bottom home of the side wardrobe, however haven't been able to find that again or find a good place to put mine doing that.

Could anyone post a picture of where theirs goes under the bed so I know what I'm looking for?

Or any more suggestions of how it fits in the back?

    Thanks.

  6. Have done some more digging on Google and found the Campmobile owners manuals on thesamba.com

From looking at those it appears that for every year other than 1976 they are stored under the seat (with the later years having telescopic poles). However for 1976 (so for my van!) they state:

"Place one end in the lower compartment of the linen closet, attach the other end with the strap to a snap fastener below the rear lid of the vehicle."

    (From: http://www.thesamba.com/vw/archives/manuals/1976_campmobile/15.jpg)

I don't have any strap on my bunk or in the sort of position that it says (below rear lid of the vehicle) and so does anyone have a 1976 Campmobile/Berlin that they could take a picture of the back of their van where the bunk is secured.

    Thanks.
