Hi, this is a numpty question - but I've just been laying under the bus for 15 mins in the rain trying to locate the identity code on the gearbox. Can anyone please point me in the right direction?
its stamped into the top. Nice view of the van from where you are but no banana. Try cutting a hole in the floor
On the top!! Seems that not all German engineering is that well thought thru. So you only get to see it with the box out of the van?

on top? since when ? the gearbox code is stamped on a flat plate about 25mm x 50mm underneath the gearbox near the driveshaft cup on the lefthand? (i think) side it is usually corroded so will need the wd40 and a wire brush unless the vans been leaking oil for years
