    Hi,
can anyone tell me if this piece (no 4 on the photo - left rear cover plate) fits above or below the engine? I'm thinking it's a piece which fits underneath the oil cooler.
    Thanks.

Number 4 goes on top, it screws into the aluminium fan housing

  3. Is that the one I'm missing on Bill?

    Thanks Davidoft,
do you if there's a corresponding piece which fits underneath i.e. below the oil cooler and which directs air to no 3 the bottom left air duct?

  5. As I understand it the air goes over the top round the front and back along.
3 and 5 are the tins that are rare and Paul Weeding makes.

    Thanks TBR,
I must look up videos on how the cooling system works in practice - I get the theory, it's just how it does actually work that's testing me!

I've learnt a lot over the past few weeks, stripping and rebuilding, just about to embark on my 2nd engine, once the 1st one has proved itself. (A month's running should be enough!).
Look up hambone vw on youtube, watch the vids, they will help.

I'm just looking at one of his videos and have paused it while I nip out to check I've got one of the tins he's installing, between the pushrod tubes and engine, and hope I have other wise it looks like a major refit if it/they are missing!
