Despite ( or because ) of all the jobs I've done on the old girl, when I tried to start her to check auto box level, she wasn't having any of it !
The electric fuel pump has decided to be erratic, so a replacement has been ordered.
The existing one is on the chassis rail, on front of the battery in the engine bay..... as per thread title, where are your electric fuel pumps located?

Only just up the road, so wiring won't be much of a problem.

  4. You will need quite long fuel hoses...

Which one failed and what are you replacing it with?

I have a Carter rotary pump below the tank on the chassis rail, where VW fitted the fuel injection pump. Ten years and so far, so good but I haven’t started the engine for a couple of months.

It's a facet square one, and I was replacing like for like as it already has the regulator (Empi , I think. ).
    But always open to suggestions.

Facet plus Empi will never end well. Fit a low pressure Carter rotary and throw the regulator over the fence – you know the one.

The Carter one sold by Machine 7 and Heritage quotes 3.5 pressure, is that ok for a 2L engine with standard carbs ?

Yes, I had it on my 2.0l with standard carbs before I fitted the Weber’s.

  10. I have a low pressure Huco pump feeding twin ICT’s. Mounted to support bracket on the bulkhead.

Ordered one from Machine 7, will fit on chassis rail as it looks too long to put on original pump blanking plate.
I presume filter is in addition to the normal fuel filter?

  12. It'll do no harm to have another filter. Mounting on the sloped panel under the van is another poss.

It won’t do any harm but it won’t do any good either but if you must have two filters have one before the pump and one after. Unless your tank is full of rust and you change the ‘normal’ filter every few months all you need is the metal filter that comes with the pump.

Can the fuel pump filter be serviced/ replaced ?

It’s a replacement item – I’ve changed mine once in nine years.
