Wheel arch bubbles back too soon after repair?

Discussion in 'Restorations' started by badgerbay, May 24, 2021.

  1. We had some bubbles on the rear wheel arches treated and resprayed just before Christmas last year (December 2020). The bodyshop looked to have done a great job at the time, the paint match was particularly good. But we've just noticed one or 2 have re-appeared each side. This is way too early isn't it? - even given our extremely wet year? The bus is kept on our drive but we'd also had him in storage for 2 of the last 6 months!

Perhaps all the old rust wasn't removed..

  3. If they didn’t remove All the rust it will come back that quickly especially if there was any moisture under the paint
    Like weeds through tarmac unfortunately

    What did they actually do?
Sand it off and paint or cut the rot out?

I would guess they treated some pitting that went right through and moisture has got through from the rear.
Bits on the cusp are a hard call, it takes the job up a step once you start cutting bits out.

  6. They did say they'd cut it out but I'm taking it back there on Wednesday for him to see and I'll ask again. I would have expected whatever they did to last more than 6 months.

This is becoming a repeated topic on here - you pay to have rust cut out but you get sanded and treated. Nothing new I guess but norty.
