What wood to use?

I am going to rebuild my units from scratch.

What wood would you use for the structure and doors? Ply? Or pine? Or something else?

My mate will spray them cream or perhaps stain them a cream type colour, with a medium oak style worksurface.

Keep the weight down, ply around a frame - thin marine ply would be my way to go, but I'm sure everyone will have their own ideas!!

I built all mine in ply around a frame, with thicker ply for the doors to look nice. As mentioned above it keeps the weight down.
