What should I do with my new car? 67 beetle

  1. Na the 1300 isn't original to the car and it a bit tough now as they are both out lol

  2. If its not original, nothing to worry about, go ahead with you proposed change.

  3. Right guys. I'm *****ed off ATM so please bear with me. Tried to put the 1300 engine in my 'other' beetle but it looks like the gear boxes are not the same so in would not go in for Marmite. Can't really think of a way round it as the 67 beetle has the early rear suspension and the 69 beetle has IRS on the back so the gear box are a bit different so I can't change them to sort it. At a bit of a crossroads now. Not really sure what to do :(

    Can you swap bell housings?

  5. The problem is with the clutches I think. Tried to swap em round but they did not fit. The 1300 has an earlier type clutch with the four spring arms where as the 1500 has the new type fingers. Tried to just swap the thrust bearings but they are fitted differently to the throw arm. Was toying with the idea of swapping the fly wheels but not to sure if that would work. Stuck.com

  6. Ah bummer dude, you seemed to be doing so well earlier whn I popped over.

    Cheers for the wheels fella

  7. Sucks mate. We were flying until we tried to refit the engines. No worries about the wheel. Hope they serve you well.

  10. Dude i dont often get this way but im jelous

Id love to find a reasonable bug at that money and you found a corker

I would actually save money by a fair bit if i had a beetle as a daily drive instead of the wallet raping passat im stuck with

If i wasent so far away id be round with the g3 compound and the polishing mop to bring the paint back like new for you its a loverly looking bug dude and i hope you have many happy years with it

  11. How do you remove the bellhousing?!? Are there exposed bolts near the final drive shaft in the gearbox?

  15. Just caught up with this. Always wanted a 67 bug so rebuild it and make it great again.

  16. Cant you just overhaul the 1300 engine and fit larger pots to it?
I think overhaul the existing engine and keeping it standard is the best way to go.
