One difference is that you are filling up with butane so the cooker wont work as well as the original mix on cold mornings. With my Propex install running off disposable propane/butane cartridges , I have have been doing the maths and it now turns out that Camping Gaz at £45 for 2.72kg works out at £16.50 a kilo , and the 450g disposable canisters at £7 each are £15.50 a kilo .... in both cases that makes running a Propex cost around 0.176 x £16 or about £2.80 an hour .. Same 2kw on mains electricity would be about £0.60 an hour at 30p a unit.
The canister worked just fine. I found putting 280mg instead of 230mg gave better pressure which in turn gave a really fast boil time. Also, A round gas canister at 230mg is almost £8.00 but 8 upright type tins is £12.00.
I went for the 450g canister as its also about £7. I thought at first it would not run to empty but what happens is it cools down as the gas runs down, pressure drops, Propex shuts off, cylinder warms up, pressure rises, Propex is still on about 2nd or 3rd restart cycle so it gives another burst of heat.. this is with the correct pressure 30mB regulator.
I think the price of oil and gas peaks and then the price of LPG ratchets up with each oil price bump.
I bought some foam rubber sheet to reseal the front indicators. One leaks slightly and both are filling with condensation.
When refilling one from the other, it’s good to put one on the radiator and another in the freezer for a bit. The gas transfers much better.
