What happens with stolen bays?

  1. Now I know there probably isn't any bay thieves on here, but after a little look though the 'stolen' threads..

What actually happens to pinched bays?
It must be way too hard for people to sell them here in the uk.. And even selling off the body cuts would be obvious if the owner saw the ads.

Where the hell do they go?

  2. I'd imagine some would be stripped for parts, or scrapped. Or might be exported to the Third World, mebbe.

  3. They get given an ID from a rusty old wreck and are sold as restored good condition sadly.

  5. They probably cut them and sell them for scrap. You know to the people who are completely law abiding and don't take any old metal from the travelling fraternity??

  6. Hurts to even think about it tbh, someone's pride and joy and they can steal them! Cut they're hands off I say!! :(

you've only got to look at some of the bays on ebay that are all wrong & have been highlighted on here - how many of them have been rung?

Lardy has best idea, hop off their hands!

  8. don't know about you guys but i've noticed more people flogging 'job lots' of old camper parts in boxes on Fleabay....sure many are genuine owners having a clear out, but the more folk that follow suit, the easier it will be to dispose of broken buses via this route. Chopping a bus is much more work than ringing it, and there's no guarantee you'd get a buyer, so I'd presume most get rung, or even blown over and sold on with hooky MoT...

  9. What leads you to that conclusion?

Ringers and body cuts, i'd be very surprised if a few haven't passed through these forums. When a scrapper turns up for body cuts everyone's on it like flies round Marmite and it's gone in days without a trace. I wonder how many of those have has their logbooks turned in...

You only have to see the guy on eBay selling blank chassis plates, he does a roaring trade
    :)
