what glue for tailgate latch mechanism?

This is the latch for my bus. The rubber wedge bit has come apart from the metal plate which screws onto the body of the lock. I've glued it a couple of times but it has to take a bit of hammer so the repair doesn't last.

Has anybody successfully repaired one of these and what did you use?

I know I can get a new one for about £25 but soddit I've forked out for too many of those bits just lately

 

I'd look for another complete latch thing secondhand.

 

Thanks folks. Regret the glue didn't work as as soon as I shut the hatch it came apart again. But I found Alan Schofield sells a wedge for a split screen, just the wedge for £3.60. It's almost identical though needed minor fettling to the screw holes. Works fine now.

 

After reading this thread I looked at mine and noticed the rubber bit is completely missing! So I'm on the market for one too
