What foam is best? Any recommendations

  1. Hi everyone! I'm in the process of starting to change the interior and am looking for options for the foam being used on the replacement full width, I think we have 4 inch foam on the current seat and the missus finds in uncomfortable is there any better options for the seat? I've looked at shoving in a jag leather bench seat and even a rolls Royce one but need to try them first!

Looking forward to seeing/hearing some options! Seeing preferably :)

    Thanks

  2. the thickness of the foam is determined by the type of seat you have....some Devons, for example, sit about an inch above the cargo deck height in 'bed mode', so the rear cargo cushion is an inch thicker than the seat cushions to accommodate...

if you're rock n' roll bed (without cushions) is the same height as the cargo deck, you can fit whatever thickness you like, within reason. 4 inch or 5 inch is standard....BUT: if you can buy a genuine latex matress from ebay or elsewhere, you'll find it far better quality than the standard 'blue' foam you see advertized everywhere.

The 'grey' grade foam is much more dense than the blue...great for seating, not so great for sleeping...if you like 'hotel' type beds (ie quite firm), use two inch of grey with 2 inch of blue on top... a good compromise....alternatively, just the grey, with a matress topper....take your Mrs to an upholster and try different combinations out....

100% Latex is as good as it gets....

  3. Which bed is it (there are limitations with rock and roll beds. Too thick with the wrong hinge and it doesnt work. Is the lack of comfort in bed mode or as a seat?

  4. Thanks guys, seats fine but as stated above as a bed is different so as the bed it's a bit hard for her. I'll have a look and see what kind of prices I'm looking at. I'll look at 100% latex and if not I'll layer it I think. Thanks again guys. Anyone else? :)

  5. yeah ok so the latex one is OUT!! just did a quote from this sit, foamforcomfort and their quote for a 145cm x 190cm x 20cm piece is over £1400 is that the kind of price to expect for that material or am I looking in the wrong price!?

    thanks

  10. 2" blue foam with a 2" memory foam top - I think it came from bluebird custom . As comfortable as you'll get , not cheap at about £140 but you only buy it once ....

Agreed, the memory foam toppers are great but I couldn't get thicker than 80mm in my covers without them bursting!

  12. The foam I'm talking about is in one piece , glued , giving a 4" thickness .
I had to make some new covers but blummin marvellous and well worth the money and effort ...
