What condensor?

  1. I'm trying to order a set of spare points and a condenser for my 1600 78 Bay. I have a replacement SVDA distributor with a round hole for the condenser. Seems a lot of suppliers are out of stock. All I can find is
Vacuum Distributor Condensor - 1970-72 - Round Hole In The Side Of Distributor https://www.coolairvw.co.uk/product/311905295c/
    and
    1971-79 + 009 Ignition Points
    https://www.coolairvw.co.uk/product/059998051b/
    Will this combo be OK?
I'll be fitting another Powerspark ignition kit after I accidentally blew the last one up a few years ago. So points will be fitted and tested and then put aside as an emergency backup.

It will do. So will a Square Hole One With A Bit Of Hacking,

009 points don't fit in an SVDA distributor. Well, they fit but the lead points exactly in the opposite direction and isn't long enough to double back IIRC. Who knows? they claim on the link that they'll fit - only one way to find out...

The bottom ones are the ones you want for svda

  6. Thanks. It was the condenser that was confusing me. Couldn't see why there wasn't a round hole one for post 71. Makes sense now.

You wouldn't think such a simple thing would get so complicated!

Unless you are a purist, or like tinkering and have dislike to new technology I would fit a 123 dizzy. A bit pricey I know but well worth it.
