The last time we took it our Outwell Country Road leaked like a sieve in wind and rain. We did once have it up in a Force 7 on the Isle of Wight when other awnings were blowing apart and going wibbly. That probably knackered it.
We regretted not taking an open sided sun awning as everything would have stayed drier... inside the bus instead of dripped on in the Country Road.
I have resealed the seams and reproofed it so will try again.

  2. Our friends have one on their T2, seems a very good awning until you try to carry/move the carry bag...it weighs 27 kilo, so will your wife be able to move it? We are pleased with our Khyam quick erect except having to clip in the ground sheet where as the vango is sewn in. We can erect our awing quicker then the Vango our friends have so I always win the 'last one to put the awning up buys the beers!'

  3. Thanks for the photos , wife is even more convinced that she wants one now !

  4. No problem :) of you get one I would recommend the footprint and carpet. I wasn't convinced by the carpet to start with but it does make it much cosier under foot. I don't think it will be particularly hard wearing though

This is a proper awning, made of canvas and totally waterproof.
It's an Invader but I can't remember who made them but nice and contemporary for the bus.

    Tuesday wildchild I'm a circle!

Khyam is rubbish, we had one and after only about 8months continuous use it ripped at the slightest touch but in your cold wet climate it will probably be OK I guess.

  11. My son bought a Galli from JK at their open day, and got a £100 discount.
Its a splendid bit of kit, and fits 'Dan's Bus' a treat.
The only down side is its pretty bulky when folded, and heavy.
You could not put it on a roof rack safely, so its a matter of strapping the grand kids in, then putting the tent on the floor.

I saw one of those Vango air-beam ones at a site in Lacanau a couple of years ago. Don't think they'd been out long.
I asked the guy how stable it was, and he said give it a push and see.
I was really surprised, proper solid construction. It looked a great quality bit of kit.

we went to the caravan and camping show at the NEC Birmingham to have a look at different ones this is what we found to suit us best, they also do the pole version if you don't like the airbeam, but know i've seen one up can't fault it

It clips in over the top of the flap that connects to the sides. Simple to put in before the bedroom bit goes in, then bedroom bit clips in on top, never noticed any frogs so should be fine, I find there best left the other side of the channel.....
We did have a badger in our old tent years ago, thought it was one of the kids, opened the flap from the air bed about nose level with the badger, not sure who Marmite themselves more me or the badger....
