What aerial to fit?

  1. Having had a new front panel and not being overly happy about drilling it, but needing an aerial Im thinking standard original stylee retractible. What do you guys have fitted?

  2. I've got a dual-mount (which isn't very good). I did suffer anguish drilling my front panel :(.

I'd avoid trying to drill for a true stock antenna (mounted on the front bulge under the windscreen). It's an odd-shaped hole that's difficult to get right.

    Stick-on internal antenna?

  3. got a chrome single mount from one of the sponsors off here ,good quality chrome as well and very cheap.
    Sorry cant remember who :headscratch2:

I have an electric one fitted in the original front panel through the difficult to drill hole in the bulge under the windscreen. I didn’t have to drill the hole but making room for the motor was a challenge – it’s very close to the A post.

  5. My bus is in the shop for resto. at the moment.
One of the few bits of welding they have had to do was to replace a bit of steel in where the antenna was.
The problem with all of the antennas fitted in the bulge below the windscreen is that the body of the antenna is a alu/zinc alloy (muckite) which causes electro metal corrosion.
In my experience this starts imediately it is installed, I am going to fit an internal antenna eventually.

  6. You can get an external glass mount that fits against a mating piece stuck to the inside of the glass. Works well, no drilling.

  7. Why not get an internal fit DAB ariel and get a lovely DAB radio and BBC 6 music can brighten your listening.

  8. Ive got one that fits on the a piller and the top section slides into the bottom section if your going through the car wash and the reception is good on it

I bought it from a stall at vanfest

  9. I've got a single mount original style one off the top of my head its just 2 round holes on the front panel, but was talking to jazz999 off here earlier and hes using a screen mounted jobbie that seems to do the job well enough.
