What’s in a name

  1. went walking in the Brecon Beacons on Sunday, and discovered that there is a peak called Fan Y Big. :cool:

    Pre Cubs my son went to Beavers.

    The lady leader was called ‘Big Beaver’

    I know it’s immature but it always made me smile.

    What made it funnier was that she was seemingly oblivious to the innuendo and that’s how she referred to herself.

  3. Apparently, there is a shop somewhere in the Rocky Mountains , I think, called The Beaver Liquor Store. :thinking:

  5. We have fanny street in the village and the signs kept getting nicked. I looked to buy s house there just because of the band but they’re all really small.

  8. Today on the way to to work I drove past Anal farm on the way back I drove past canal farm, I think they need to cut the ivy back on one side

    Similar thing happened when I drove past a sign for Scunthorpe Town Centre the other day....

  11. I’ve walked up Pen Y Fan. Bloody hard work. We passed it on Sunday, and there were loads of cars parked up. Apparently there was a charity event. But there was still snow at the top, and some people got into difficulties. It was September 2017 when I did it, a lovely warm day, but surprisingly cold up top.

    It was bloomin hard work in 30°C Temps last summer but not as much fun when there was lots of snow .

  18. I’ve been up Pen y Fan too , well at least I thought I had , talking to friends about it after , we didn’t go all the way ! The cloud had come in and we didn’t see the last part !

    There used to be a ‘Sluts Lane’ nearby but I think it’s been renamed.
    It’s a while since I’ve been there...

    Searching for it brought up two Slutshole Lanes elsewhere in England though!
