Westfalia roof trim and van seats

Discussion in 'Restorations' started by Phills, Jan 18, 2015.

  1. 78 late bay Westfalia.

Can anyone with a Westfalia pop top roof post some pictures of how the edge of their van roof is finished off, i.e. The bit you see when when you are standing up inside, I currently have a rubber trim which grips on to the edge of the ply headlining and goes upwards hiding the gap between the headlining and the van roof but it is full of holes and dirty and I can't find a replacement anywhere so looking for ideas for some kind of replacement.

Also, I am looking to replace the two front seats, I want to get some from a breakers, has anyone found certain make of car seats to better and easier to fit the others?

    Thanks in advance.

  3. Hi guys,

Is no one able to help with this? I am totally struggling to find a trim for the roof opening, I need this before I can hopefully continue with the rest of the interior.

  4. Hi,

I looked around for a replacement for this rubber edging and couldn't find one through the VW parts retailers. In the end I scrubbed mine with kitchen cleaner and it came up OK, though not perfect.

Getting anything in white or cream will be tricky, but you might find an edging strip in black to the right profile from a generic rubber supplier. I have used Pentonville Rubber in Islington before and they carry a wide range of different edgings by the metre. I am sure similar places exist elsewhere.

  5. Thanks Dave,

Unfortunately mine is past just cleaning as it is full of holes where someone has tried to screw it to the lip of the roof and the screw heads have then rusted and left rust marks. I will just have to keep searching for an alternative.

Dunno if this link will help

    http://www.gowesty.com

There's a menu down the left which takes you to 68 - 79 bays

  7. I will try and get some pics of mine tomorrow for you when it's not p'ing down @Phills

  8. Thanks geordieandy, you have the same trim as me along the forward part of the hole. I am now thinking if I can clean the trim, most of the holes are at the top, I could get a flat trim like draught excluder to stick on top to hide the holes.

  9. Thanks Mork, had a look, nothing there I'm afraid.
