Westfalia gas hob connection

  1. Anyone know what the thread is for the gas fitting on a westfalia hob? Thought it was 3/8 but I’ve tried that & no joy... unless it’s opposite thread

  2. I struggled with this. It seems that German gas fittings from the period are not the same as in UK. I think the pipe sizes are the same though, so if you can't find a coupling you may be able to cut it off short and use more recognisable fittings.

The fittings are readily available in German caravan shops though.

  3. I just found all you need in the Reimo catalogue but it won't let me cut and paste.

  4. Standard 8mm, innit? That’s what I did mine in and it went on like a charm!

  6. I think that’s looking like the path of least resistance, cheers!

Are you sure it’s not an opposite thread? Some gas ones are.

  8. I wondered that, 3/8 seems ever so slightly too big though. Probably an obscure rocking horse poop thread type, it is westfalia after all!

Or just cut the end off and put a hose with a hose clip on

  10. Unlikely. Though the regulators on propane bottles are reverse thread.

I suspect this is what's needed. The thread is 1.5 mm x M14 and the pipe is 8mm, but the olive and the fitting into which it screws is different to UK spec.

  12. I vaguely recall when I took the gas pipe off my Westy fridge it was a reverse thread:thinking:
