Welding rear chassis repair sections

  1. Hi all, just when I think I'm nearly there, (refitting the interior and toying with booking an MOT), while removing the wheels for two new tyres to be fitted, I made the mistake of looking at the rear chassis rails.
They had a bit of rust so I prodded them, followed by wire brushing.
Naturally the surface rust turned into holes, both sides. They probably could be patched for another year or two but as I've been concentrating on getting underneath decent I'd rather have welded in two proper repair sections, like these from Heritage:

So my question is, will the engine need dropping to do the job correctly?
(I'm suspecting it will just desperately hoping it won't!)

    Thanks in advance, Nick
