I'm currently using the small disposable gas bottles to weld with which don't last very long. I want to start using larger bottles but I'm unsure of what regulator and other stuff I'll need. Any help?
All you should need is this http://www.thewelderswarehouse.com/Welding/Regulators__Industrial_.html and a refillable bottle.
Hi DA I got 1 of these to convert my welder over to the bigger bottles, it comes with everything you need other than a bottle of gas http://www.weldequip.com/argonmix-conversion-kit.htm
Go to your local lemonade factory, or a place where local resturants and pubs get there gas for there fizzy drinks machines, and ask them for a bottle of CO2, you pay double the price at your first purchase, then after that you only pay the price of a fill, when you return the bottle when its empty, as for the regulator, buy a co2/argon regulator, your "pub gas" bottle should last 3 to 6 months, dont bother with Argon gas, you'd be wasting your money, CO2 is fine for mild steel repairs, Argon gas is more for stainless steel and other exotic metals ;D
