Webasto Thermasystem

  1. Hi Guys,

First post so hopefully I’ve posted this in the right place! Thanks for adding me to the group!

We are the proud new owners of a 1966 t2 split. I’ve put in a new leisure battery today which has allowed me to get the fridge running as well as plug sockets, which I have tested. However, I’m at a loss on the webasto heating and can’t get this working as I just want to test this before we go away with two small children. The control panel is blank. The heater itself links up to the leisure battery, further side red wire on the leisure battery connect.

I’m probably doing - or not doing - something daft so appreciate your thoughts!

  2. How much cabling is coming out of the Webasto loom? How many wires? Post a pic of the connections at the back of your timer (which is actually from sn Eberspacher heater).

Its an Eberspacher. The Eberspacher logo is visible on the heater body and the controller .
It may well have its own in-line circuit breaker or fuse to protect it and the wiring - it may be a resettable type that has been tripped. It may have been deliberately manually tripped because it flattens the battery if it is left connected for a long time.

Also check with the Internet on the model number whether it wants petrol or diesel - (not that this would turn off the display totally), there will be a little tank somewhere at the other end of its fuel line if it is a diesel heater.

  4. Hi Both,

I really appreciate the quick replies :)!

Need to put the kids in the bath and I will take a look. Thank you!

  5. Tis indeed an Ebers. Thick red wire in the loom should go to the battery via a 25A fuse, thick brown to batt -ve. Forget all the other wires, disconnect the timer (that model is awful, btw) and locate thin red and yellow wires in the loom. Joining those together should start the heater manually. There should also be two green or green/red(?) wires from the loom that run to the fuel pump (which I assume is in place)?

  6. Also: look on the data plate for the Ebers model number.

If it’s later one, note that if everything isn’t in place (pump, fuel lines primed with fuel, etc) and it doesn’t fire up after three (?) attempts, it will log a fault code and lock you out of further attempts (until you get it unlocked).

Its why I am glad my boat heater is a Webasto, this sits there blinking at you when it shuts down (usually because the third start on the leisure battery in the night has discharged the battery just a bit too much). But if you turn off the power switch, wait for it to cycle down, and then turn it on again it has another go, regardless of what the problem has been.

  8. If you’ve got the right controller for a Ebers - 701s are good - you can reset fault codes.

Press the buttons, the 3 red wiggles are heat , arrows are fan , does I do anything at all

  10. .. and dont expect things to happen staight away whem connecting wires, mine goes through about 30s of testing / warming before the fuel pump even starts clicking then a bit more to the fan then a bit more until jet wnging mode kicks in.
