Webasto airtop

  1. Hi All - Has anyone fitted the Webasto Airtop 2000st petrol night heater? Do all those that have fitted the propex heater have gas on board already for the cooker and therefore not need additional tanks? It seems like the gas option might be percieved to be safer and cheaper but there's a considerable loss of space for the gas tank

Anyone fitted a petrol one and whats the operation like?

    cheers

    Jason

  2. Most people run their propex heater off the same gas bottle as they use for the cooker (and fridge if they have one) so no extra required.

  4. Thanks for the replies - do most peeps have builtin cookers then? We've just got camping gaz unit for alfresco cooking........how many others just use portable units?

The problem with these heaters is the glowplug used to light up the fuel uses a lot of current about 15 Amps.
On the diesel version I have on my boat I get two or three starts on a charged leisure battery before it shuts off with low battery because the wiring is too long. That is with 10mm2 cable for 5m then the Webasto wire in series.

It sounds like a small jet engine. Good for waking up the marina on a cold morning.

Gas is easier to light with sparks.
