  1. my water pump has packe up in my devon (it is one that has to be primed)

it has a pipe going to tap and a pipe that goes in water tanks then is operated by foot pump, here my question would one of these work

    http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/WHALE-12v-submersible-Standard-water-pump-GP1002-/180665027490?_trksid=p2047675.m1850&_trkparms=aid%3D222002%26algo%3DSIC.FIT%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D11%26meid%3D4361391098798798997%26pid%3D100011%26prg%3D1005%26rk%3D3%26sd%3D130792906988%26

does it just sit in water tank and tap pipe connect and then wire 12v supply to foot pump

or am i being a bit thick

I have one of these pumps and it is switched by a micro switch in the tap. Does your current tap have wires to it?

  3. yes it does basicly the tap is operated by pressing a 12v foot pedal on the floor

That's the jobby - good price too ,

you wire it up and it sits in the tank , you can buy a inline one too that pumps as you press the button .

    ^ :yeah that:

  6. I bought a submersible 19l min one and it's a bit too powerful on the Devon spout, the one you linked is 10l so should be ok. No priming needed either

I did not like the idea of the 'fat' submersible pump as it meant making a bigger hole in the tank to remove the pipe and pump.

After a lot of attempts to fix the leaky old pump, I bought a pump like one of these http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/DC-12V-550L-H-Brushless-Magnetic-Submersible-Water-Pump-Koi-Fish-Pond-Garden-/290751029113?pt=UK_HomeGarden_Garden_PondsWaterFeatures_UK&hash=item43b21c9f79, and carefully cut the old electric pump off the hand priming pump, and then glued the outlet spigot from the old electric pump into the inlet hole of the old electric pump, and connected the new pump in series with the hand pump on the outlet side.
If its good enough for Koi carp then people should survive water that has been through it. :)

It still needs to be primed, but the non-return valve on the hand pump holds the water in for weeks.
