    They clocked me

I just wanted a new garden pond and thought the old boat might do the trick ::) ::)

  17. The man is here - Welcome Capt'n Timesail - How is your evening going? Hope that garden is taking shape - shame about the pond - however the amphibious vehicle could win - the offer still stands

  20. To put everyone out their misery and make them feel better about helping us out with our initial request, thought you would all like to see the fun encountered this evening, following someone finding our ad on E Bay for Noah:

    First Message received:

Hi , i have just seen your listing for the camping van , i am interested in the roof bit , is it fibreglass and do you think it would float , i only ask as i have heard they make good garden ponds and i am in the process of designing a new garden pond , i do have a boat that i moor at Lymington and my idea would be to up turn the fibreglass roof thing and tow it behind my boat and once back to Lymington i would trailer it home .I am not really interested in the camping van thing as i do not do that sort of thing and it is very ugly ( no offence intended ) , i would pay ful price and probably scrap the old van , Is there a scrap dealer on the IOW ?.So to recap , will it float , does it leak , will it come off easily . is there a scrap merchant on the IOW ,and finally , are you open to offers Oh yes one other , could you help me tow the old van to a scrap merchants if locally ?Sorry for all the questions but i am only interested in the pond idea .rgds M161

    Our reply:

Hi. Thanks for your message. It is a fibreglass roof yes, and therefore should float, however I would be worried that the water pressure may pop the windows out therefore that would have to be looked into.To save you the aggro of having to take the van to the local scrap yard (which obviously there is one of here) we will just deliver the roof to the ferry for you.So to recap, yes it will float, no it doesn't leak, yes it comes off easily and we will sort out the old van.You make us an offer of what you are prepared to pay for the roof and we will sort out a deal.If you have no worries about the floating issue you could come over as a foot passenger and bring your outboard to fix straight to the upturned roof and sail it back.Cheers.

(At this point already sussing it was a wind up and the possible suspect)

Great thanks for the quick response , could you fit navigation lights , it is a bit of bugger the Solent , i do have a out board motor it is a seagull 2hp , do you think tis would push the craft back to Lymington , i suppose my offer would have to be based on what a good sized preformed grp pond would cost , how about 300 pounds and you throw in a seat to sit on whilst navigating the choppy Solent .i suppose i could be called captn timesale on that jaunt .look forward to your response , m161

No problem at all - I am sure we could make sure it had a port and starboard light in.Seat, yeah no problem - will even throw in the steering wheel for you so you can steer it!Would you like the wheels to put on it to make it amphibious so that you can also drive it on land to say Kidderminster! ;)I am sure 2hp will be enough to power it along, however I don't really know much about arks believe it or not!Indeed Captn, we will be very sad to lose that title!
