  1. Hi,

Does anybody have one of these they are willing to part with?

  2. Just to add the reason I’m asking is that VW Heritage don’t stock them anymore and mine seems to be missing resulting in movement of the steering column.

  3. I probably have but would never be able to find it if I tried :-( maybe @bernjb56 could move this to the parts section as you might get a better response :)

  4. Cheers. I suspect if they have been discontinued more people may have this issue in the future.

  8. Not sure it is the same as that part looks like the bearing to me. I think the column thrust ring sits above it, the same as the crown shaped item in their diagram which I think is for earlier bays.

I used the part number; it’s supposed to be this - https://www.vwheritage.com/211415589c-steering-column-thrust-ring-vw-spare - which is the image you posted.

My ’77 has the crown shaped thing – it’s broken so if you know of a supplier please let me know.

  10. Now I am confused if your 77 has the crown shaped thrust ring. Does that mean I’m looking for the wrong part?

Unfortunately, I don’t know where that can be sourced either.

I’m wondering if something from another vehicle e.g. beetle may be suitable.

It’s just to stop the column moving about really.

  12. Cheers Stirlingmoz,

Unfortunately not. It is the item on top of the bearing under the spring. Some have a washer type others have a crown shaped item.

Although if that bush is the right diameter it might work!

Have a look at the Bus OK website. They have lots of obscure and hard to find stuff.

I only had time for a quick shufty but they might stock the exact part you need.

However, it’s mostly in German ;)

I suspect that bush would be the right diameter as the upper part of the column would have to pass through it - just a guess though

    Good luck in the hunt

  15. Brill. Does that replace the bearing? Also what goes on top of that is it just the spring?

  16. Are you willing to part with these?

Also the question is which one should it be for a 77 plate, the flat one or the crown/cage?

  17. The piece you initially asked for is off an earlier van 73. The later have not had much dealings with, the one of those bearings ive got is firmly seated in a ignition housing. I would purchase that from Cool air as per flakeys post.

The bearing is on ebay too https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/JP-Group...202043&hash=item56bef79544:g:kEQAAOSwPVFcQQDr

Get 15% off that with PERCENT15 code. Probably a bit cheaper as no postage
