Hmmmmmm, must be a new ish line, they used to be different, has my unique westfalia correct key engine lid lock become a smaller part of my retirement fund :(

  12. No, its very good and well made but still not the same as a good old one, the outer part seems very good quality , almost as original but the inner body part with the latch is not as thick and heavy as my old push button one is, its an old R style key but some how looks different

I have one of each in my hand and they are identical. Mine came from Heritage or JK, it has "AIRTEC" where the VW part number would have been.

  14. so could I get a new one from JK or veewee and rekey it to work with my current "one key fits all locks" key?

  15. The key or the lock?

The casting is the same but a lighter weight metal maybe not as smooth, the key looks like an old vw one but the way its cut looks different, more pointy bits along it i think, jp is the make

I disagree, mines the same weight and looks just as good.
The old key will fit it, but the new works differently, it's double/mirrored like the new door ones, I might take it to bits later.

  17. well tough titties :) you cant disagree coz mine >>>> IS <<<< cast from a diferent metal than my old original

Yes though my key is like that, it dosent look like it would re key to well, too many outie points but i have got the handles with a black key for my new doors anyway so i may as well have different ones.

Bet they dont have the same barrel and waffers inside when you open it o_O
