VW Mech Specialist Near Tetbury

  1. I've got a problem! My last holiday in the van resulted in me using more oil in 5 days than I had in the previous 5 years (oil changes excepted). I'm pretty certain that it's the flywheel oil seal and need to find someone who can sort that for me - and the chap I've used before doesn't seem to be interested. Any recommendations within 30-40 miles of Tetbury - would obviously prefer someone who is well versed in the ways of old VWs!

  2. never used them myself, but heard good things about the old dub shop in bristol - is that close enough?

If Bristol is close enough, go to Martin at Bristol Cherished Cars. Good as gold, and very good prices.

IME when that oil seal is leaking tragically, the rear of your bus will be splattered with oil top to bottom... if that's any help. :)

  6. the only time i had oil loss that drastic it was a rocker cover I badly re-fitted after valve adjustment, easily rectified. when my rear main seal has leaked it tends to be just weeping

  7. Hi Zed - that's exactly what happened! The back of the bus isn't going to rust anytime soon...

  8. I've had a good look underneath and am pretty certain it's not coming from the rocker covers... but I will check again!
