What grade fuel line do you recommend , ther is a thread on Earlbay.com about R9 hose perishing within months ?
Hi, I would strongly recommend fitting our 'fit and forget' fuel hose that is non rubber based so will not perish. As such this fuel hose is good for at least 25 years, European produced product with full traceability. So in effect fitting this new generation hose will give massive increase in engine bay safety. Issue with rubber hoses is the presence of ethanol in our modern fuel (check out the article we wrote in Hayburner issue 7. Ethanol being a solvent strips away the natural oils so speeding up the hardening of the rubber. Sorry let me clarify, this so its clear what the product is we offer. The 'Fit and forget fuel line 'is basically that. The fuel line is designed to work with petrol / diesel with a mixture from 0 - 100% ethanol (biofuel). The fuel lines will not go hard, split or degrade in the presence of biofuel / ethanol. The fuel lines have been tested and have minimum life span of 25 years in the presence of upto 100% biofuel. The braided hoses use have a short life because the natural oils are removed from the rubber by the ethanol present in petrol. R9 hose lines is designed for fuel injected vehicle and can work with E10 petrol but has a shorter shelf life of about 4 years. Hope this clarifys exactly what the product is and the details in relation to the shelf life stated. This is the fuel line now used by Volkswagen in all there new cars. To be clear, do you offer a 25 year guarantee on the "fit and forget" fuel hose? Saying it will last is different to making a guarantee.
