FOR SALE Various Type 4 / Porsche 914 cylinder heads - all genuine VW

Right, just spent the evening sorting through my stash of Type 4 heads and there are a few that are surplus to requirements!

They are a mixture of types, some are good others need work, brief descriptions below, I will add more details over the next few days including photos and part numbers. No rocker gear, valve covers or bail clips included just to be clear.

First up - pair of nice square port heads, 39.3 / 33 valves, 071 part number prefix, part numbers match. One is original unmolested, the other has had quite a few helicoils fitted and is missing most of the studs. Spark plug threads good, no combustion chamber cracks, valve seats look as they should (i.e. not loose or recessed), one of the exhaust stud threads has had an M10 helicoil fitted so you would either need to use an M10 socket head cap screw or source an M8/M10 stepped stud. £340.

Next, square port head (single head), 37.5 / 33 valves, quite tidy, a few marks in the combustion chambers but VERY minor. £160.

The remaining heads are OVAL PORT and all need work:

Pair of pukka 1.8 heads with 41/34 valves, one S suffix the other an H. One needs a replacement exhaust valve seat, the other has a hairline crack eminating from each exhaust valve seat, other than that, I think all the studs are there and in good nick all the valve seats bar the one mentioned above look great (no signs of loosening or hammering into the head). I would hazard a guess that the head with the duff valve seat has been repaired previously, possibly just a replacement seat but also possibly some welding in the combustion chamber, photos will show what I mean. You should bargain on needing new exhaust valve guides on both heads, remember these heads are 40 yrs old .... £295 ONO

Genuine Porsche 914 head, 039 part number prefix, 42 / 36 valves, single head. Nice looking head from a couple of feet distance but closer inspection reveals single crack eminating from each exhaust valve seat and two/three hairline cracks around the spark plug threads, all common issues on these heads. The head is however unmolested, showing no signs of previous welding. Studs/threads all look good and valve seats look solid. £175 ONO.
