If you think you may have sodium filled valves don’t do that^. If they’re not you’ve destroyed the valve and if they are you’ve destroyed something else that you might like to keep.

My engine has never been rebuilt. It came to me with factory grease on the clutch plate.
So maybe I could have the dodgy sodium valves.... I actually quite like the idea..
Went well in 36 degrees Celsius when touring Italy.. About time that I changed the oil...... ?

They’re not necessarily dodgy, just think of them as bring a ticking time bomb. It will probably go off, you don’t know when but it will be at the most inconvenient time and place (Murphy’s Law).

And that valve will be probably be at about 700C; ambient makes no difference to combustion temperature.

Some bedtime reading for you - http://www.dtic.mil/dtic/tr/fulltext/u2/a801184.pdf

Thank you will read with interest.
Still need to get my engine running smoothly though.
Seem to have a leaks on both exhaust and inlet mating surfaces. A bit of a pop here and there...o_O
