Vacuum gauges

  1. Can you setup dual 34ict with vacuum gauges if so would you put them on the carbs or the manifolds and if so what reading would you be looking at ? I’ve ordered a snail carb balancer just waiting for it to arrive but after some research other people are using vacuum gauges which I have borrowed a set off a friend but I’m not 100% how it would work cheers all.

  2. You could balance them using vacuum gauges, but you’d need suitable take-offs somewhere on the carbs or manifolds (in the same place). All you’re trying to do is balance airflow into the carbs, so absolute numbers - if you could find them - wouldn’t mean much. It’s the relative figures you’re interested in ie both the same, whatever the number is.

  3. So would the barbs that I have for the balance pipe from manifold to manifold do the job ? B9E8C7E0-6EBC-4A1F-8F1A-B79788F83FD1.jpeg

  4. Can’t think why not, assuming the pipe’s not in place, obviously. Give it a go....

  5. I will try it what’s the worst that can happen lol :) thanks @snotty

  6. Give it a go - you always learn something! Dell owners are spoilt as Dell provide take-off ports as standard. You do need four gauges, though :(

I’ve balanced my dells with a snail type air flow meter very successfully. I did fancy doing with 4 vacuum gauges so bought a set but found that they didn’t work very well. They just bounced around, not very accurate, waste of money.

  8. I’d be suspicious of the cheapo Chinese ones. Snail meter works fine.

  9. The snail meter is the way to go. so much easier and more accurate.

For sale. 4 vacuum gauge set. Only used once. They are brilliant ;)
