FOR SALE **Updated*** Type 4 engine parts (heads, pistons etc.)

Discussion in 'Late Bay Parts Classifieds' started by threecountiesdubber, Mar 10, 2015.

  1. OK so based on some comments and friendly advice I'm now going to start listing my surplus Type 4 parts individually, this is going to be an evolving thread so bear with me, photos will be added when I can but if you're interested in particular parts I will post photos specifically.

Prices include postage within the UK mainland (unless otherwise noted), note that I will NOT insure for the full replacement value, if you want the items covered to the full value you will have to pay the difference.

All parts secondhand unless otherwise stated.

Cylinder heads do NOT come with rocker gear.

    The list:
    1. OE Porsche 914/VW 1.7 cylinder heads (39.3/33 valves) - oily/sooty but no cracks or damage, no sunken valve seats - £220 pair
    2. OE Porsche 914 2.0 Litre cylinder head (42/36 valves) - flycut to accept 103mm B's&P's, great condition, no combustion chamber cracks, no damage - £300 (note: single head only)
    3. OE Porsche 914 2.0 Litre cylinder head (42/36 valves) - some typical Type 4 combustion chamber cracks but very much repairable - £170
    4. OE Porsche/VW 1.8 litre cylinder head (41/34 valves) - totally overhauled by a well-known Type 4 specialist, has had new everything and is ready to bolt on - £SOLD
    5. OE Porsche/VW 1.8 litre cylinder head (41/34 valves) - has been reconditioned by previous owner with new valves, guides and springs but has got small hairline crack around each plug hole and one hairline crack emanating from one of the exhaust valve seats - £200

    6. Automatic drive plate and bi-hex crankshaft bolts - £80
    7. Genuine OE VW 1.8 litre (93mm bore) high-compression pistons, type with so-called 'dome' top, original equipment on certain of the 1.8 litre engines. Pistons only (with gudgeon pins) no barrels - £160

    8. 1.8 litre B's & P's of unknown manufacture, drop in capacity upgrade for 1.7litre engines (yes, I didn't know such a thing existed but there you go) - recovered from an engine that had dropped a rod so minor damage to a couple of pistons and minor scuffing on one cylinder but all recoverable in my opinion - £120 (collection only)
    9. NOS Kolbenschmidt 1.7 litre high compression pistons - standard size, still in original box, like the day they were made, type fitted to 'W' code engines with the 'dome' top - £220
    Parts will be advertised elsewhere.

  3. How much for the case with all the gubbings inside matey cheers I'm only droitwich

  4. I thought that a turnkey engine is exactly that - bar the actual task of bolting it into the vehicle ie bolt in - turn key - off ye go. Not a box of bits. even if they may be desirable. so probably a good move to change the title. Good luck with sale - looks like you have some good stuff.

  5. Hi Dicky - cheers for your input, you are quite right hence why I'm now going to start listing the stuff individually. The whole thing about selling a 'turnkey' engine in bits has prompted similar comments in the past, hey ho!
