I have just had our bus put back up to stock height, am removing Fooks alloys and have a set of 14 inch original steels powder coated to replace them with, any recommendations for the best mid priced tyre and what is the original size tyre to go on the steels. Also will the wheel nuts ( 19mm Hex M14 * 1.5 Tapered conical seat 35mm ) that are on the Fooks fit the steels or will I have to get new ones if so which ones are they. Thanks in advance
Nuts will need replacing, not sure what you call/spec them, but they're rounded seats and less angle. BTW congraulations on 1)going back tall and proud and 2) proper steel wheels. You won't look silly now. Hancook tyres seem very popular.
Well I guess it is 185/14 c what does th c stand for, I am really pleased to have Betsy back up to proper height, and cant wait to get the steels on, I suppose a cool to Just Kampers or such like would solve the nut problem unless anyone has 25 knocking around, also havent yet got chrome hub caps can you get original German ones still or are they all repros
I've just bought 4 new tyres. 185/14/c. Standard van tyres. They are Goodyear Cargo's. I work in the motor trade so got a good deal and fitted them myself. Cost £55 each so thats a rough guide to help you. My spare is a Lassa which seem to be a good budget tyre. That was about £35 6 years ago.
" C " is for the load range. 6 ply tyres for light trucks/ vans. Lots of weight in a camper. You'll be safe with these on.
