Right, I have tried the search function but to be fair its pony! (Either that or I can't drive it properly...)
I need some new tyres for my van. The ones on there are ancient and under-rated.
    I've got 15" rims so think I want something like 185 70, 75 or 80 R15 with a load rating of 92+ and speed rating of about a P.
I've seen the same tyre recommended on here several times maybe by MorkC68? Any one got any recommendations for tyre or supplier?
    Cheers

Any thoughts on Hankook Vantra RA18s
    185 80 R15 R 103s are £70.64 each fitted...

  3. I've got a Barum Vanis at each corner. In the last two years they haven't burst or come off so it's a thumbs up from me.

Assuming you would like to retain a similar diameter to the original 14inch tyre and want a reasonable choice of commercial rated tyres you should be looking at 195/70x15. mytyres.co.uk has a good selection from £51 to £96.

92 load rating is 630kgs per tyre, not really enough for the back of a campervan.

    I use Pirelli CHRONO 2 195/70 R15C 102R.

Incidentally, 185/80x15 is about 3.9% larger than the original tyre and you’ll be travelling faster than the speedo indicates. In theory.

    Thanks both.
    Here's what I don't get about tyres:
What width can I go up to on a 5.5 inch rim? They're currently 185 so would 195 be ok?
I want to go slightly oversize (80 instead of 70) as I want a longer ratio for when I pimp my engine later this year.
    :)

195/70x15 will fit on wheels from 5.5 to 7 inch width.
    185/80x15 – 5 to 6.5 inch

Go for 102 rated - seems the standard for a van tyre. 92's you'll find often have a max pressure of 35lbs which just demonstrates how weedy they are. I should know I'm stuck with a pair on the front of mine. :(

Those Hankook ones I put up there ^^^ are 102 8 ply so should be all good.
Just need to decide whether to change the wheels too now.

  11. I got my last set from vwbitsandbobs (Danbury) for £360 delivered for four pretty much 'as' new goodyear tyres and wheels i think these are the ones the brazilian bays roll over here on until danbury puts alloys on them.

195/65x15 is 2.6% smaller than standard so you’d be going slower than the speedo indicates and they are almost 1% smaller than 185/70x15. 95 load rating is 690kgs so good enough for a campervan.

  15. Get a set of Pyongyang Explodas. Very popular, in the news all the time, so must be good...
