Type 4 choke

Discussion in 'Mech Tech' started by yostumpy, Jan 15, 2023.

  1. I know how the type 1 choke works, with the snail cam, requiring a gentle press of the gas pedal to move the stop screw/snail cam interface. But with a type 4 there is no visible snail cam. So after 18 years,I'm asking ......do you have to press the pedal when cold, or just turn the key?

I turn on the electrics so that the fuel pump is running. Three presses of the throttle and turn the key to start and it's running.

  3. The cam is inside the housing. Yes you need to press the pedal to engage.

  4. Excellent, thanks. Now I know. One on each carb I presume?
