Twin Weber 34ICT's - do I need a fuel pressure regulator

  1. Hi All,

I'm fitting twin 34ICT's to my standard 1600 and intend using the mechanical fuel pump. Do I need to fit a pressure regulator?

Does anybody know what pressure a mechanical pump produces? I think the webers can take a maximum of 3.5lbs.

If you are using twin 34 ICT's what pump do you use?

    Thanks in advance.

  2. You can add extra gaskets under the mech pump to drop the pressure

  3. Thanks Para, that's a good idea. I've just looked in my Haynes manual and the max pressure is 3.5psi at 3800 rpm. So I'm guessing this should be ok.

  4. I think the webers need 3 psi but im not 100% sure

  5. you really need to beg borrow or steal a fuel pressure gauge. You can get in line ones on ebay for about £17. Yes you need it to be max 3.5psi but I run mine at 3psi. My mechanical fuel pump ran at 6 psi at running speeds and was way over fuelling the icts.

Depends on your budget really. I use a 57mm filter-king mounted on the fire wall. but as Paradox says you can add extra gaskets to the base of the pump. I think you need to buy about 3.
