Twin slider interior ideas.

Discussion in 'Camper Conversions' started by cosmicflood, May 16, 2015.

  1. Hi All,

I have a '77 twin slider that I am thinking of refitting the interior. I was wondering if anyone had any ideas on a good layout style or any photos etc.

Really just looking for ideas but Would ideally like to incorporate a cooker and sink (the ones in my current interior dont operate.

    Cheers.

Have you looked at an prototype bay Devon Caravette layout?

  3. Ive got a twin slider too. Looked at a few interior options and went with a long side layout, which meant losing the use of the drivers side slider but gave the most usable layout for a sink, burners etc and better storage. However, two years on im considering ripping out the £1300 bespoke interior, selling up and buying some poplar ply and a router and d.i.y'ing something a bit more retro that will allow the use of both of the doors. The moral of this is think hard and plan well before spending your money as if you dont, It'll eat away at you and you'll only end up spending it twice lol

  4. Cheers guys. Really looking to keep use of both doors. Anyone got any drawings of a suitable layout?

  5. Walkthrough or full bulkheads?

  6. Full bulkheads.

  7. Obvious layout is a unit behind the bulkhead and a half length setup down the drivers side with 3/4 bed I guess.....rear wardrobe and overhead locker would give good storage. Thats the route im probably gonna go with.....second time around lol

  8. That's very similar to what I have at the moment but doesn't give you enough to seating options.

  9. Then youre looking at either losing the bulkhead unit and fitting a two seat rear facing bench, or having a standalone single unit and a buddy seat I guess

  10. In my twin slider I have a standalone unit behind the passenger seat that houses a cooker and a fridge. On that same side I have units down the side of the 3/4 rock and roll bed, and I am about to fit a L shaped westy table leg with the tale top that folds in half in there so we can eat in the back of the van. Might also fit some rear-facing seats so we could have 4 sat around the table, but restricted by the fact that the dog-crate has to fit in there. I also have a headbanger overhead locker and the cupboard down the side of the bed goes full height when it gets to the rear quarter.

Same as me - twin slider , full bulkhead, I've got a Devon type cooker/sink/fridge along side a three quarter bed , table in the middle and I've just put a rear facing bench seat with under storage behind the bulkhead - seems to work ( for now)

  12. These sound great. Any pictures or layout pictures?

  13. Still looking for pictures about to get started now.

Nothing special, knocked it together out of two flat pack shelf units from B&M home bargains for a total of £25 ( not including the cushions)

  16. image.jpg Maybe some Westy bits and bobs, the rear could be the same as the picture with a Westy sink unit and rear facing bench seat behind the bulkhead.....

  17. Have you checked out @zedders layout in his prototype? Can't remember the thread and I know his wasn't a twin slider but the layout was a really good use of space and I think the idea could be adapted.
    Can you help @zedders?

I think if I were to tackle a twin slider, i would have to accept that there would need to be some compromise between inside and outside space. If you are looking at a complete usable interior in a twin slider, with all the amenities of say a westy, you will need to accept that one of your doors is going to become obsolete as an entry or exit point. If you are happy to use outside space as much as inside, you could use the swing out style units for that, and then have all the things you need.

if you had the swing out cookers, you could have fold up buddy style seats behind them to help with the seating issue.

If you had one either side, you could still have a stand alone unit at the centre of the bulkhead.

How many passengers are there going to be besides the front two? I think you would really be limited to the rnr bed as seating during travelling times.

If you don't like the idea of swing outs, and want to retain the facilities inside, then the extra seating will need to be the sacrifice.

I think over the winter I'll be taking this out, we very very really use it as a seat and the storage underneath is very minimal and awkward to get to so I think I'll look at a full bulkhead height , full width unit withe ends rounded off slightly.
Thinking it will give us a worktop , draws and cupboards for more / better storage .
I'm on the lookout for something already available 'off the shelf' from somewhere if anyone knows anywhere?
