Twin carbs for TypeIV 1800

Discussion in 'Late Bay Parts Classifieds' started by Lord Charles, Aug 10, 2011.

  1. I want to return my 1800 to its original spec with some twin carbs instead of the single weber that the PO put on it. I say original buy if you have some 40 IDF webers just sat around gathering dust I suppose I could do you a favour and take them off your hands.

  2. I've got a pair that came off my type4 1800, they are in serious need of a rebuild, i replaced them with csp twin solex from heritage everyone seems to rate them ok, but mine have been bother since i got them.

Let me know if you want my old solex's though, i dont have the airfilter but i think most if not all of the linkage is there, they originaly had the cali emmisions rubbish attached as well so dont know whats involved in making simpler!

  4. Maybe interested in your Weber... depending on price! Looking for a 2ltr version ideally but an 1800 would be a good starting point.

  5. hi i have some nos solex 1s for a 1800 type 4 engine with linkages and filters and manifolds

  6. Hi woody here. New here so here goes. Hi everyone. Hope someone can help. I have decided to go for some new carbs for my 78 2ltr bay and don't no which to go for so can I have all of your suggestions plz. Fed up of chugging up hills and at the same time wouldn't mind a bit bitter fuel economy if that is possible with one of these babies. Much appreciated folks.

Forget the old Solex carbs way too old and over compliated .I had mine rebuilt by a so-called specialist in Chester and the following day after a heated phone call received a full refund from him .
Eurocarbs in Reading i would recommend for the Webers ! or Jim at Stateside tuning for the Dellortos. Both will set the carbs up with roughly the correct jetting and would just need fine tuning on a rolling road.
Single Weber is good if you are on a budget but they can suffer during the cold weather.
