  1. Right bought a van and I have tired to get it to run after 3 years ,got the sparking prob sorted and if u prime the carbs ,ie pour a wee bit of petrol in them it will fire bit soon die ,it has twin carbs and an electric fuel pump,u can hear the pump working. But it's going all the time should it not switch of after its primed the bowls ? [IMG][/URL

  2. Usually an after-market electric pump runs all the time - ours certainly does. You may need a fuel pressure regulator, but possibly not if it's a low pressure pump.
How old is the fuel in the tank? If it's 3 years it will have gone off.

  3. No....the electric pump should pump continuosly until you switch the ignition off.....remove the fuel delivery pipe at the carb end and check it is actually pumping fuel...if it is, reconnect and tap each float bowl with the handle of a screwdriver...it's possible that the needle valves have stuck with it being stationary....still no joy? remove the carb tops carefully and check the condition inside the float bowls....any brown residue here suggests plugged jets

  4. Yeh drained it of new fuel new points etc, defo a fuel prob ie carbs as took the pipe of at carbs and it s squiting out when the pump is active ,wonder if the bowl floats arestuck down ?

  5. Also check that red wire. Is it powering up the idle and fuel cut off solenoids? Without it it'll never run more than a few seconds.

  6. Yeh think I got them sorted as the wiring wasn't to good there ,I can here them click now when power goes to them

  7. Zed

    Zed Gradually getting grumpier

The carbs may be furred up and need a proper clean out.
