My van generally starts ok , however i have a slight problem ,

When i turn the engine over , if the van doesn't start straight away , i return the ignition key to it original position and on a few occasions the starter motor continues to turn to try and start the engine.

Even if i remove the key , the starter will still continue to turn the engine over,

Is this a fault with the starter or the ignition switch ?

Thanks for the concise reply joker . Is it a lublication type of solution or replacement solution

  4. Chances are, you'll have to replace it I would've thought? You could always take it apart and check the contacts first especially now as the winter is coming and we won't probably be going anywhere for a while ;)

  5. Check the wiring leading into the switch. Its possible the switch is fubar. I had an issue with 2 1972 early type switches which had been stood for a few years. Both fried the electrics behind the dash so you could start by looking there. Its likely the switch internals that are the issue though if the connection is still being made. You could try squirting some of that electrical lubricant down the key hole though. It certainly won't hurt
