As my van was laid up for nearly six months I'd completely forgotten about the leisure battery which is now flat. Just bought a ctek mxs10, am I better trying the recondition setting, or just the standard charge, to revive it? Really I'm expecting to buy a new battery but thought this worth a try? Or is a flattened LB goosed?
Put it on recondition, if it's completely flat you will need to stick some juice into it via jump leads from another battery
May of found the answer ! The charger isn't recognising that the battery is connected so I guess it's too low a voltage? So hook it up to starter battery while engine is running to put some juice in yeah?
It is almost certainly fookrd. If there is a big bang when you connect it to the starter battery you might be in luck. But if it just sits there its sulphated up high resistance and dead.
Why, there may be nothing wrong with it, 24hrs on the battery charger cost next to nothing and if it charges up he's £100 better off
If I've ever run mine flat - I switch the Ctek off, start the engine and then switch the ctek back on and it normally kicks it back into life
Was it you that fitted a ctek in the engine bay? I'm planning to do same myself, but wondering.....is it just plugged in in the van? How to get plug from engine bay to interior? Or better/other ways of fitting it?
Twas. It's on the side of the spare wheel well. You can drill a hole through by the side of the well, looking from inside the van rearwards, just to the right of the well. I grommeted the holes & fed conduit through to carry the cable & cut the plug off & wired it straight into the consumer unit here ya go
Ctek finished the recondition on leisure battery yesterday, have checked the voltage on battery a few times since and it's at a steady 12.8v so hopefully that means its ok?
Hopefully it will be it, keep the charger on trickle/ float with the mains connected whenever possible. It's not fair to let batteries starve...
