on the news yesterday derailed loco that set fire...... was a 50 year old heritage loco shame really even if it's a duff
Used to have a green one of those on my Hornby set as a kid, many serious freight accidents were caused with that and a Zero1 controller with inertia set at max
they should have moved their fuel fiter out of the engine bay and checked their hoses ........on a thread jacking note, I'm going to go to a model railway show on Saturday and probably spend a few hours on Eastleigh station watching the trains with my kids and dad lol!!! I dont mind it..... but I'd rather be working on my bus scraping rust ;D
yeah I saw it earlier, made a right old mess - the flames had a good hold on it. How did it get derailed, the news said it became derailed & caught fire from memory
it had just been for wheel profiling and tyre turning so they are working on a fault with it at the moment as it was dead on the rear of a train, the fire looks like a traction motor has flashed over and set fire to the oil and crap that sits in these leaky swiss sulzer tat things..... it's strange how a loco can derail when the rest of the train didin't the area it was travelling was speed restricted to 30 mph as it was a sharp curve, they think the buffer locked with the rear carriage.
I thought it was odd it caught fire dead in transit...who knows! Those Sulzers were collinders, no good whatsoever but the did run reliably for a good many years!
