Towbar electrics wiring question

Discussion in 'Mech Tech' started by nickyd, May 30, 2012.

  1. Hi, this is a question for you sparky types..

I have just refitted my towbar and have come to wire it up but the black wire is too short. Not sure why, but anyway, the question is, can I jump from the brown pin to the black pin on the socket on the bar? Brown is for LH tail light and black is RH tail light. The brown is spliced into to LH tail light feed on the bus. I am wondering if I can just run a small piece of wire to connect the two pins in the socket and therefore run both trailer board tail lights off the spliced LH tail light feed?

Does that make any sense? I think I might have even confused myself!

    Thanks

    Nick

rickyrooo1 Hanging round like a bad smell

if you do that and then the fuse blows for that side on the van you will loose all lights on the trailer

  4. Ah, good point, hadn't even thought about that!

I'll go get myself a new bit of trailer wire then.
