top tips for getting bulbs to fit properly in the rear clusters.

  1. Just come back from Anglesey. Van ran well but my mate following, in his T5 I add, let me know the brake lights were not working. It was just the bulbs in the holders. They are awful. so how does everyone get them to stay put? the bulbs that is.

  2. Possible if they're original Hellas by a bit of contact bending. Scrub the contacts with a glassfibre PCB brush from Maplins. If they're 3rd party aftermarket things from Brazil, forget it. They're awful.

That's pretty much how I fixed someone's indicators on Sunday. The metal contact has a fair bit of flex in it and can get dirty easily.

  4. If they are repro ones bend the tab that touches the pin on the bulb, it wont actually bend but will snap, then throw them away and buy some decent used ones :)

  5. They are allegedly VW ones from BRAZIL.:(

  9. Weeel, there seem to be two types: the "VW" ones, which are kind of half-good, and the true 3rd party ones where, as above, the contacts just snap off.

  10. how much for a pair posted Davidoft?

  11. I've got the ones from C&C, Arteb i think the make was, meant to be genuine, haven't had any issues with them.

  12. I bought the same. They're not as good as original Hellas, but they're not bad.

  13. Better than the ones they replaced by a long way. Original German ones would be best of course.

  15. The plastic on proper genuine ones degrades with time and turns to powder . I thought the genuine Brazil ones were excellent ...

  18. Yep ! The genuine ones become brittle and turn to powder. So I did a Blue Peter session and covered them with sticky back foil and yes I was sober at the time. Actually it's amazing how much brighter the lights are

  20. The VW Basilian ones I've had maybe 3-4 years ? In my opinion it's the best new non German part I have fitted ..I did buy a couple of sets of 40 year old old ones but they all were brittle
