Stoning is more appropriate...Monty Python did it so well.

  4. no I dont. They are plugged up, going to find a hose of some sort to try that next. I measured the barb at 10mm diameter, so will see what I can find at work laying about, what should I be using ideally for a balance tube?

  5. yeah I was doing it wrong, these are the results

  6. yes they seem to be quite high which I’m pleased about

  7. It won’t idle properly without a balance tube so that may be the cause of your problems.
You just need some hose that won’t collapse under vacuum.

  8. I’ve ordered some tube of a 10mm id, I think it’s fuel hose so should be ok I hope. I will receive it today so will get it on today.

as I’m typing this one of my staff members has just handed it over to me LOL fingers crossed this will work

  9. Balance tube has made the world of difference, it’s not so wobbly now.

I still don’t know if that side of the engine is firing up on idle though, tried to pull plug whilst running and it shocked me lol

my tachometer is reading just under 1500 rpm

Is it possible that the throttle screw stop is not open enough on one side, so the throttle plate is effect closed at idle?
This was the case with mine. I adjusted the screw and all came to life. I then balanced the carbs with the snail vacuum syncrometer

  11. that’s a good shout to be fair, I had a mate come and set it up the best he can, I didn’t want to mess with any adjustments screws and undo his work but it idles at 1500 now, so something has came to life, I think it’s running rich due to how cold the manifolds are though. Still suspecting an air leak around the fog ports though, so will take tinware off and have a look

The fast idle will make setting the timing and carbs impossible, you need to get that down to sub 1000rpm.
