Warm steaming spaghetti in a rich red sauce, littered with seasoned sausage, black olives, and mushrooms, or a rich Chicken Fettuccine in a creamy garlic white sauce. There are over 600 shapes of pasta known to mankind, and their names are descriptive of their shapes. Spaghetti (‘cord’), vermicelli (‘little worms’), rotini (‘spirals’), fusili (‘spindles’), tortellini (‘little cakes’), linguini (‘little tongues’), conchiglie (‘shells’), fettucine (‘small ribbons’), penne (‘quills’) and capellini (‘fine hairs’) are the savoury little goodies that are essential to any larder. I'm not sure 600 shapes are really necessary tbh. A packet of pasta and a jar of pesto, handy things to keep on the van
it's a type of pasta! a potatoey dumpling type - the mafioso next door told me so and i'm not arguing with her!
there are various types of gnocchi not just potato ones and all are known as dumplings and pasta - the latter probably because it's an alternative to a pasta first course and is always included in pasta recipe books. so i'm told I'm also told that the bought gnocchi here is "disgusting!" - i quite like it
