Walking to work provides amazing health benefits to the otherwise sedentary person. The extra time necessary to walk to work helps wake you up and spend time clearing your head and greeting the day in something less than a rush. In a world where we so often forget that there’s more to life than working and sleeping, this extra time can help us take time to appreciate the things we usually miss. Whether it’s just the feel of the wind on our skin, the sun overhead, the rain falling down, the sound of birds or just the activity and life of the city around us, Walk to Work Day helps to reconnect us with our environment in some very important ways. I shall do my usual 2 mile walk in a while and think of the working folk.
I shall walk........................................................................................................................................to the van
Another vote for retirement here - I was 8 miles from work and cycled in for several months one year with a colleague who lived round the corner - I stopped when the weather turned bad - he moved but carried on cycling for the next 20 years! I also jogged in several times times when I was training for a marathon - as I was pouring sweat I can't say I was fit for work really after doing that!!
That reminds me. I meant to take a picture of it but when you sent me that steering column I gained a valuable insight into what you've been eating for breakfast! Baked beans and shredded wheat from memory.
If I walked to work my passengers would be a little bit annoyed. I do enjoy a walk though and try to do a walk every day.
Must find some work to walk to , does getting the grocery’s count . If it’s anywhere less than 5 miles I walk anyway , but I would walk 500 miles ............................da da d da da .
I’d need to set off at 4 in the morning! It’d be a pleasant walk admittedly, sunrise over the New Forest and a bit of country air..... but I think I’ll take a rain check for the moment!
I picked up the breath lady earlier, she wasn’t impressed with walk to work day, she was knackered by the time we got to Sainsbury’s
