'Everything tastes better when it’s dipped in light, Japanese-style batter and fried, right? Tempura Day is all about making light, crispy batter for your seafood, vegetables and favourite snacks!'

I'm not so sure that everything tastes better in batter. Have you tried anything unusual deep fried?

Does a fried Mars bar count?
I've had fried crickets & cockroaches in S.E. Asia, fried snake in Hong Kong. In Oz I've had dry fried Bogong Moths & Witchetty Grubs, chocolate covered Honey Ants are also tasty.
I know we are a bit odd down here ^-^

  3. Nope - sorry - nothing interesting to add!! Bern - this has got to be the oddest 'day' you've found so far! Well done!!

  9. Fried lice (not from the Chinese takeaway).
Real Wood Louse(s) UK ones. Pretty boring really, no real taste other than the batter.
Other than that the usual assortment of Crickets/Grasshoppers/Insects found on the Pacific Rim. (fnarr, fnarr)

  11. A few years ago we used to have a mobile chip van that sold a deep fried double cheeseburger which tasted lush, I have heard in Scotland they do something similar but include the bun.
